Educate, research and serve society.\u00a0 But how can universities maintain their high-quality standards of education and research and engage their alumni to match the missions of the university?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11727 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aluminati.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/HE3-1024x819.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"669\" height=\"535\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.aluminati.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/HE3-147x118.png 147w, https:\/\/www.aluminati.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/HE3-177x142.png 177w, https:\/\/www.aluminati.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/HE3-300x240.png 300w, https:\/\/www.aluminati.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/HE3-768x615.png 768w, https:\/\/www.aluminati.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/HE3-1024x819.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 669px) 100vw, 669px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are many ways in which international alumni can help to fulfil an institution\u2019s goals.\u00a0 Within education, alumni can become brand ambassadors, curriculum advisors, mentors recruiters and even life-long students.\u00a0 In the field of research, they may be PhD Students, co-authors, innovators and be able to maintain liaisons with partner universities.\u00a0 In the wider society, they could be employers, entrepreneurs, investors, fundraisers, volunteers and even donors.\u00a0 International alumni really are an untapped resource for institutions.\u00a0 Tremendous knowledge can be found and a real willingness to give back in some way to their alma mater.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>But why would alumni help their university?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Martine Torfs, Head of Alumni Relations at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kuleuven.be\/kuleuven\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">KU Leuven<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Belgium suggests that international alumni have the potential to be the most generous people and it is OK for an institution to capitalise on that.\u00a0 But international alumni may have moved on with their lives and careers since graduation and it is important to highlight the value in giving back.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An institution should be providing opportunities for life-long learning through massive open online courses, podcasts and other media.\u00a0 Universities should be providing their alumni with a range of professional and personal opportunities.\u00a0 To allow them to connect with a prestigious brand of academics and educational institutions and the association with high-value degrees.\u00a0 Providing opportunities for international alumni to showcase their own expertise and knowledge through social networking and events.\u00a0 Martine notes that lifelong learning, especially in this digital age, never stops.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One notable challenge for institutions is maintaining contact with their international alumni and keeping up to date records.\u00a0 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aluminati.net\/aluminate-for-education\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aluminate Community Builder<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> places at its heart the formation of meaningful member relationships and can facilitate increasing regional academic expertise, growing stakeholder networks, expanding international recruitment and recruiting international liaisons officers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aluminati was proud to sponsor the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.case.org\/conferences-training\/introduction-advancement-leadership\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Introduction to Advancement Leadership<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> conference hosted by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.case.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CASE<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
